Dream Tint from Jane Iredale is a tinted moisturizer with SPF 15 with a very natural, buildable coverage. The product has recently been reformulated, so I am reviewing the new version! I have used other Jane Iredale products in the past, but the updated Dream Tint is quite dreamy! So I decided to pen this Dream tint review. This product is one I recommend frequently for clients with dry or mature skin who want an every day “natural” product that is light, moisturizing, and doesn’t feel too much like “makeup” while helping cover and blend imperfections. The formula was OK in its previous incarnation, but I think there has been a drastic improvement in the texture and the shade calibrations. Not only is the formula more moisturizing, but there has been a marked improvement in the shade offerings making them more wearable. Observe the swatches below on my arm. The “N” denotes “new” shades, the “O” the older version.
Warm Bronze looks about the same. Medium Dark in my opinion is the shade that has been the most improved; the older version had a more pink/cool undertone and was difficult to match to the targeted skin color range because the product looked ashy. The new Medium Dark, previously a cool ashy tone, now has a richer look, making it more wearable.
The Medium shade remains a true, basic Medium and hasn’t changed that I can see. Medium Light is less yellow and leans more neutral, while the Light has had a little yellow added in. Worth noting that Jane Iredale has discontinued the Dark shade of Dream Tint, but in my opinion it’s for the best. The old version wasn’t great, I think partially because of the Titanium Dioxide that made the shade a bit ashy. Overall I feel like a lot of their products lean a bit pink, but the updated versions of some shades seem more balanced. Jane Iredale continues to struggle with appropriately toned products for women of color.
If you are a fan of Jane Iredale products or looking for a natural tinted moisturizer with SPF for the dry season, try out the new formulation of Dream Tint.
